Supporting Arts & Humanities Students
Since 2001, Batesville Community Theatre has proudly supported local students through the John & Donna Saltzman Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship honors John and Donna Wallace Saltzman, lifelong advocates for the arts who dedicated more than twenty years to mentoring students and adults in the Batesville community.
Their devotion to theatre and arts education left a lasting legacy — and this scholarship continues their mission of enriching lives through creativity, learning, and community.
About the John & Donna Saltzman Memorial Scholarship
Each year, the John & Donna Saltzman Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to deserving students pursuing higher education in the arts and humanities.
BCT is proud to recognize students who demonstrate:

This scholarship reflects the belief that the arts strengthen not only individuals, but entire communities.
Who Is Eligible?
Scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding graduating seniors from:
Batesville High School Charter
Southside Charter High School
Cedar Ridge High School
Recipients are selected based on both their artistic accomplishments and their strong character as community members.
Scholarship Impact
Since its creation, Batesville Community Theatre has awarded more than $10,000 in scholarships to Independence County students, helping young artists continue their education and pursue their passions.
These awards are presented each spring during the schools’ annual awards ceremonies, supporting the next generation of performers, creators, and community leaders.

Help shape the future of arts and humanities education in Independence County by nominating a deserving student for the John & Donna Wallace Saltzman Scholarship.
This scholarship is designed to support graduating seniors pursuing studies in the arts and humanities, and only teachers may submit nominations for eligible students.
If you know a student who demonstrates creativity, dedication, and a passion for learning, your nomination can open the door to continued education and opportunity.
Eligible nominees must attend a high school within Independence County.
